Online Dating 7 Safety Tips

A lot of women are reluctant to try online dating, but if you are isolated or your immediate social network includes no one that you’re interested in, what are you suppose to do if you’re ready to start dating again?

I’d avoid hanging out in the fruit aisle at your local supermarket wearing your best outfit, how often did that one ever work anyway?  I’d also avoid buying a dog just to walk around your local park on the off chance that Mr Right might also be out walking his dog at the exact time that you are - besides, a dog is for life, not just for picking up guys, remember!  So, you’re online anyway!  So why not fire up your search engine and check out online dating?

  1. I’d always go for a paid site, simply because SOME paid sites will verify some of their members profile.  Also, if someone pays for a service, you know they are serious about finding someone.
  2. Don’t give out your personal information until and if you are ready, that goes for phone numbers, real name, address etc.
  3. Always meet in a public place and tell a friend where you’re going!  Get a friend to call you at some point during any meetings, just to check if all is as it should be.  Even get yourself a code word for when things are not what they should be - this might sound over the top, but it is better to be safe than sorry.
  4. Stay sober, you want to keep yourself in a fit state to make informed decisions.
  5. Make your own way to the meeting place and make your own way home.
  6. Use your instincts, it’s there for a reason, don’t ignore it.
  7. If all goes well and you feel you’d like to see him again, take your time.  Don’t jump right in with invites to your home after the first meeting.  Remain vigilant and alert to ANYTHING that makes you uncomfortable.
